Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

RAGE GIVE MUDBUGS A SCARE AT CENTURYTEL

Ken Carroll returned to action between the pipes after a two month hiatus for Friday night's game against the Rock y Mountain Rage. The Rage scored on two of its first three shots, with Kyle Kos and Trevor Weisgerber converting in the first period. The Bugs struck back when Ryan Fairbarn pinched in to score an even strength goal. Jason Williamson banged in a rebound to even the game by the end of the first period. The Mudbugs scored three consecutive goals in the second, two of which by Dan Wildfong. Ryan Fairbarn's shot from the right point beat David Guerrera to give Bossier-Shreveport their first two goal lead of the game. The Rage kept it close when Bret DeCecco's third period goal brought it back to a one goal game. The Bugs defense held strong in preserving the one goal lead. Jordan Little and John DiPace received ten minute misconducts, which all but ended the game in the final three minutes.

HOUNDS AND BUGS COME DOWN TO THE WIRE

The physical play picked up on Saturday night in the eighth meeting between Youngstown and Bossier-Shreveport. Youngstown struck first when Chris Richards gained the puck on a turnover and fired it top shelf to beat John DeCaro. Jeremy Downs scored two goals on slap shots from the point, tying a personal season high and keeping the Bugs in the game. The five minute overtime gave way to a shootout. Youngstown goaltender Brad Roberts stopped all but one shooter as Chris Richards scored to ice the win for Youngstown. It was the first overtime/shootout loss at CenturyTel Center this season for the Mudbugs. However, Bossier-Shreveport picked up a valuable point to tie Memphis for first place in the Northeast Division.
