April 17, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs scored three even strength goals and three powerplay goals on their way to a 6-1 victory over the Rapid City Rush in Game 4 of the Northern Conference Finals Friday night at the CenturyTel Center. The victory ties the series at two for Bossier-Shreveport heading into tomorrow night's pivotal Game 5 at the CTC.

Parker Van Buskirk stopped 30 of 31 shots and kept Rapid City off the scoreboard until late in the third period to earn his second win in goal. Shawn Limpright scored one goal and set up two others, while Jamie Milam scored two powerplay goals and Travis Clayton also had a goal and an assist.

The opening minutes were evenly played before the ‘Bugs took the lead during a 4-on-4 situation. Shawn Limpright skated over the blueline and fired a shot through the defenseman's legs that beat Miguel Beaudry low to the stick side to put the Mudbugs on top 1-0. They made it 2-0 during a 5-on-3 powerplay late in the first when Milam scored on a slapshot from the point that made it inside the right post with only 16 seconds left in the period.

David Rutherford made a nice move early in the second to get around two defenders and roof a shot over Beaudry's shoulder from in tight to extend the lead to 3-0. Milam then one-timed a Limpright pass through the five-hole for another powerplay goal just over two minutes later and it was 4-0. Brett Smith got in on the action later in the second, tapping in the rebound of a Joe Blaznek shot to put Bossier-Shreveport up 5-0 going into the third.

The ‘Bugs went up 6-0 just 20 seconds into the third when Limpright fed Travis Clayton, who wristed the puck off the post and in from the top of the circle. The game got continually nastier as the third period went along, eventually resulting in 99 combined penalty minutes between the teams. Riley Weselowski broke up Van Buskirk's shutout bid with just 5:58 remaining, getting Rapid City on the board with the game's final goal.

Parker Van Buskirk improved to 2-1 in the playoffs with the 30-save effort, while Miguel Beaudry stopped 20 shots in the loss. Rapid City outshot Bossier-Shreveport 31-26, but finished 0 for 6 on the powerplay while the ‘Bugs were 3 for 8.

The Mudbugs will now look to take a 3-2 series lead in Game 5 tomorrow night at 7:05 pm at the CenturyTel Center. The winner of tomorrow's contest will have an opportunity to close the series out and advance to the President's Cup Finals Tuesday night in Game 6 at Rapid City.
