Mudbugs Name Steve Cherwonak New GM

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs today announced that Steve Cherwonak has been named General Manager of the franchise. The announcement follows a three week long search by Mudbugs Owner John Madden. Cherwonak joins the Mudbugs after eleven plus seasons of service to the Western Professional and Central Hockey Leagues, holding the title of Vice President, Communications for the CHL since May of 2001.
"After a long and thorough search we've selected the person who is a perfect fit to take this organization to the next level," said Mudbugs Owner John Madden. Among a strong field, Steve Cherwonak stood out among the rest. We thank all of the many credible candidates who applied for the position."
Cherwonak takes over as the fourth General Manager in the ten year franchise history of the Mudbugs. He spent his tenure in the CHL office overseeing all local, regional and national media efforts. Cherwonak also maintained a number of hockey related technologies, including the league website. Cherwonak also assembled the league schedule and record book on an annual basis.
"It is an honor to join one of the most prestigious organizations not only in the Central Hockey League but of all of minor professional sports," said Cherwonak. I leave the Central Hockey League front office with many fond memories and friendships, and am eager to embrace a new opportunity with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs."
CHL President Brad Treliving reflected on the move of one his long time employees and colleagues.
"On behalf of the Central Hockey League we congratulate both the Mudbugs ownership ,led by John Madden, and Steve Cherwonak on today's exciting announcement," said Treliving. "Steve has played a vital and instrumental role in both the formation of the WPHL and has been a continued leader of the CHL family for the past 11 years. His many contributions over the years are evidenced throughout the CHL today and we thank him greatly for all he has done for our organization."
Cherwonak's expected full time arrival in Bossier-Shreveport is set for mid August. The Mudbugs will host a meeting in the coming weeks in which all fans and media are invited to come meet the new General Manager. The actual date of the meeting will be announced in the next few days.
