Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (July 16) - Whistles will no longer stop play solely for hockey at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
Today, NYTEX Sports and TEJAS Volleyball teamed up to add indoor volleyball as another major sports activity at the NYTEX Sports Centre. The club previously practiced at Keller I.S.D schools.
The NYTEX Sports Centre features two regulation-sized ice surfaces and formally one Olympic-sized. Operations are now underway in converting the Olympic rink into five volleyball courts. The completion date is set to be within the next month.
NYTEX Sports President, Frank Trazzera is excited about the addition of the TEJAS Volleyball Club staff and teams.
"The addition of TEJAS Volleyball further enhances the world-class experience that is our vision," Trazzera said. "We are very excited about the TEJAS team potential and look forward to adding another championship club to our facility."
TEJAS Volleyball, entering their sixth year of competition, is a USA Volleyball Club Program in the Northeast Tarrant County area for girls between the ages of 10-18.
For the 2006-07 season there were 11 club teams; one for 12, 17 and 18-year olds and two teams for 13, 14, 15 and 16-year olds.
The season begins with tryouts in October and end as late as mid-July with a National Championship tournament.
Future plans for the TEJAS Volleyball Club at the new facility include an adult league and open court times for recreational play and practices.
TEJAS Volleyball Director, Philip Anderson believes the move to the NYTEX Sports Centre comes at the right time.
"The reputation of TEJAS Volleyball is already excellent, but now I believe we will be the premier volleyball complex in the Metroplex," Anderson said. "There is nothing quite like the NYTEX Sports Centre. We are ready for the courts to be put down and for the games to begin."
Directors of TEJAS Volleyball are the father/son team of Philip and Kevin Anderson. Overseeing the volleyball programs will be Graham Waring, Director of Operations.
