
Mudbugs Lock up Governor's Cup with 6-4 win

BOSSIER CITY -- The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs unloaded five first period goals in route to a 6-4 victory over Youngstown, locking up first place and the Governor's Cup for the best regular season record in the CHL.
Joe Ori and Karlis Zirnis each had a goal and two assists in leading the Mudbugs on the score sheet. The victory gives Bossier-Shreveport first place overall in the CHL as it will face the winner of today's game between Tulsa and Wichita.
The Mudbugs managed to scored six goals despite being out shot 38-15. Jeff Alcombrack and Matt Hanson scored to bring the Hounds within one, but Dan Wildfong converted a two-on-one to ice the victory for Bossier-Shreveport. Ken Carroll stopped 34 of 38 shots to win his 14th game of the year.
The Mudbugs will begin the first round of the playoffs this Friday and Saturday at CenturyTel Center regardless of opponent.
