SHREVEPORT, La. - Richie Parent recorded a 32-save shutout Saturday as the Shreveport Mudbugs blanked the Corpus Christi IceRays, 5-0, inside George's Pond at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum.

The Mudbugs jumped out to an early lead when Tim Khokhlachev scored his sixth goal of the season at 2:19 of the first period. Giovanni Procopio then doubled the lead for Shreveport at 13:05.

In the second period, the only period of the weekend in which the IceRays outshot the Mudbugs (16-9), Shreveport picked up the only goal as Warren Natyshak cut in front to score his second of the weekend at 14:14.

Jacob Smith added a tally for the Mudbugs 3:32 into the third period, as did Garrett Steele with 32.5 seconds remaining.

Neither team scored on a combined seven power-play opportunities. Shreveport led in shots on goal, 46-32. The Mudbugs improved to 6-0 against the IceRays this season.

The IceRays now head into a holiday bye week before returning to action for a New Year's Eve home game against the Mudbugs at 5:35 p.m. CT. The game will mark the third contest of an eight-in-a-row stretch for the IceRays against the Mudbugs.
