
Mudbugs Advance to Second Round

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- Cam Abbott scored twice and the Mudbugs blanked the Wichita Thunder on five power play opportunities to earn the 4-1 victory in Game 6 and advance to the second round.
The veteran line of Chris Brassard, Dan Wildfong and Forbes MacPherson was itching to get its scoring started all series long, they finally did in the first period. Forbes MacPherson pulled a rebound from back behind the cage and lifted the puck by Jon Horrell for the first goal of the game.
The Bugs tallied two more in the second period. Jeremy Downs gained a drop pass from Dan Wildfong and let a slap shot rip from the right point, deflecting off the goaltender and in for a two to nothing Bossier-Shreveport lead. The Abbott brothers took over towards the end of the second period, Cam Abbott carried the puck up the right wing and picked the upper left hand corner to extend the Mudbugs' lead to three goals.
Wichita could only must one goal that came at 8:24 in the third period. Kris Wiebe beat John DeCaro unassisted to spoil the shutout. Cam Abbott added an empty net goal 19:37 to make it official as the Mudbugs wrapped up the series.
