
Muckdogs Game Notes - vs. Auburn

Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Today's Game- Batavia closes out the regular season with the Auburn Doubledays. The Muckdogs are set to finish with their best record since they went 39-36 in their first year as an affiliate of the Miami Marlins.
That was last night- The Doubledays had another burst of offense in the top of the ninth inning, but it was not enough to overcome Batavia's three-run lead. Ricardo Cespedes made an acrobatic catch at the center field wall to record the final out. Sean Reynolds also went 2-4 with a double, a triple and four RBI's in the game.
You the real MVP- LHP Manuel Rodriguez was named the Muckdogs team MVP yesterday by the Miami Marlins. Rodriguez finishes his season with the Muckdogs with a 3-2 record and a 1.06 ERA in 51.0 IP this season. Davis Bradshaw was named the MVP of the GCL Marlins roster as well, as he hit .376 before being promoted to Batavia.
Spoiler Alert- After being eliminated from playoff contention on Friday night, Batavia now looks to play spoiler against the Doubledays. Auburn was eliminated from the division title race last night. They do hold a half game lead in wild card over the Brooklyn Cyclones. Auburn can secure a playoff spot with a win today. Brooklyn can take the wild card with a win and an Auburn loss.
Bradshaw's Big Bat- Since joining the Muckdogs roster on August 17th, Davis Bradshaw has been putting up incredible numbers. He's batting .333 having snapped his seven-game hit streak. Five of those games were multi-hit games, including the first 5-5 game in the NYPL this season.
Guaimaro Getting After it- OF Alberto Guaimaro has been heating up for Batavia, knocking hits in 17 of his last 22 games, putting up 24 hits in that stretch. He also was riding an eight-game hit streak in the middle of that span, where he totaled 12 hits in that time.
Two-out trouble- The Muckdogs have had issues getting out of innings once they've reorded two outs. Batavia has given up a .270 average with RISP and two outs. Of Batavia's 333 runs against, 133 of them have crossed the plate with RISP and two outs.
Close Calls- Batavia has played a total of 75 games this season, 46 of which have been decided by two runs or less. Batavia has played the most one-run games of any team this season, and the Muckdogs are 24-22 in games decided by two or less. Batavia has the second-best reord in one-run games, and the worst record in two-run games at 4-9.
Recent Roster Action- On August 28th, C Nick Fortes was promoted to Greensboro and C Keegan Fish was promoted to Batavia from the GCL.
Marlins Update- The Blue Jays dropped six runs on Miami as Sean Reid-Foley earned his first MLB win for Toronto by striking out ten Marlins. Miami's only run came from a bases-loaded walk to JT Riddle.
