Mountain Lions to Host Season Kickoff Party

Sacramento, CA - THURSDAY, August 25, 2011 - The Sacramento Mountain Lions, of the United Football League, will host a Season Kickoff Party on September 6 at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium.

Head coach DENNIS GREEN and his Mountain Lions will practice from 6:30-8 p.m. and Green will also address the fans. The Mountain Lions will sign autographs following the practice.

This event will run from 6-9 p.m. with free admission and parking.

"This is a great opportunity for our fans to get their first look at the team on their home field," Mountain Lions senior vice president JOE WAGONER said. "Additionally, fans are friends. And it's a great chance for them to get reacquainted with each other as our season gets closer."

The Lady Lions will be mingling with fans, posing for photos and putting on a performance. Mojo, the Mountain Lions mascot, will be on hand for photographs and autographs as well. There will also be some other entertainment surprises during this Season Kickoff Party.

Mountain Lions season-ticket holders will be able to check out their seat locations. The entire Mountain Lions front office staff will be on hand and fans will be able to purchase season tickets and individual tickets at this event. Team merchandise will be on sale as well.

Training camp opens Friday, August 26, at Sacramento City College and will conclude on September 8. The Mountain Lions, who enter camp with about 70 players, will have their 53-man roster set at the end of training camp.

Training camp will feature a daily morning practice from 8:15-10:30 a.m. followed by an afternoon practice at 11:30 a.m. each day. The afternoon practices are expected to run until about 12:30 p.m.

Players and coaches will be available to media following practices. Training camp is open to the public.

The Mountain Lions will open the 2011 season at home (at Hornet Stadium) against the Las Vegas Locos on Sept. 17. Las Vegas won the UFL championship in 2009 and 2010 under head coach JIM FASSEL.

Sacramento went 4-4 in 2010 and averaged about 18,250 fans for the home games.
