Sacramento Mountain Lions News Release
JACKSONVILLE, FL - Wednesday, December 22 - Two Sacramento Mountain Lions - fullback TYLER CLUTTS and kicker FABRIZIO SCACCIA - have joined National Football League practice squads.
Clutts is now a member of the Cleveland Browns practice squad after serving as the Mountain Lions starting fullback throughout the 2010 United Football League season. He caught seven passes for 48 yards and a touchdown, and helped lead the way for running back Cory Ross to run for 435 yards and four touchdowns and earn 2010 UFL Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Clutts originally came to Sacramento as a long snapper. This was his first professional season on the 11-man field after also trying his hand in both the Canadian Football League and the Arena Football League. Clutts played defensive end at Fresno State, recording 23.5 sacks in his collegiate career.
Scaccia continues his rise from the semi-pro ranks with his call to the San Francisco 49ers practice squad. The strong-legged Scaccia played his first professional outdoor season with the Mountain Lions this fall, and finished second in the UFL in kick scoring with 53 points. Scaccia was 12-for-16 on field goals, including a league-record-tying 54-yarder, and 17-for-17 on extra points.
In the summer of 2010, Scaccia played for the AFL's Arizona Rattlers. In 10 games, he was 69-for-74 on extra points and 1-for-4 on field goals. Prior to 2010, Scaccia spent six seasons playing semi-pro football, and hit a 68-yard field goal in semi-pro play.
