Sacramento Mountain Lions News Release
Sacramento, CA - Friday, June 17, 2011 - The Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League ran a Father's Day Photo Contest on their facebook.com page (http://www.facebook.com/SacramentoMountainLions) for one week. The contest concluded today at noon.
The Mountain Lions ran a contest requesting that fans post their cutest father/child photo on facebook. The person who submitted the most popular photo among the rest of the fans on the facebook page would then receive four Mountain Lions season tickets for the 2011 season.
A photo submitted by Jennifer Irwin was the overall winner. It received 146 "likes" before the deadline. The photo, which you can see on the Mountain Lions' facebook page in the photo album "Father's Day Contest," features Jennifer's husband Bryan Irwin asleep on the couch with their twin sons Josh and Jake. The photo is No. 27 in the photo album. The Irwin family won four season tickets for having the photo with the most "likes." There were a total of 128 photos submitted prior to the deadline.
The Mountain Lions social media sponsor, JIFFY LUBE, was overwhelmed by the huge response to the contest and they decided to extend the contest to include 10 winners. So the first nine runner-ups in the contest also win four season tickets to this season.
Jennifer, who submitted the winning photo, actually attended the University of Central Florida with Mountain Lions quarterback Daunte Culpepper. The first time she ever saw Culpepper compete for her school was on a baseball field. Bryan is a Sacramento native and a former track star at UC Davis. He is a math teacher at Cordova High School and he's also in school completing his Masters Degree in School Administration. The Irwin family had season tickets to the Mountain Lions in 2010.
"The last 14 months with the twins has been crazy and wonderful, I'm really looking forward to introducing my boys (my wide receiver and fullback) to a live game when their bedtime is a little later," Bryan said. "In the meantime, being able to have some downtime with my wife and dad to attend these games is going to be the highlight of this next season. Thank you Jiffy Lube, Sacramento Mountain Lions, and all of those who voted for us."
"I can't tell you how excited we are to win this contest," Jennifer said.
The Mountain Lions averaged about 18,250 fans for their home games last season and will open the 2011 season at home on AUGUST 14. The other home dates are AUGUST 20, SEPTEMBER 10 and OCTOBER 1. Kickoff times and TV broadcast details for all games will be available at a later date.
Season tickets are on sale now at www.sacmountainlions.com or by phone at (916-383-5466). Fans can also visit www.buyUFL.com for merchandise.
