March 7, 2011 - United Football League (UFL 1)
Sacramento Mountain Lions News Release

Sacramento, CA - Monday, March 7, 2011 - The Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League are seeking dancers to take part in auditions for the team's 2011 cheerleading squad. The cheerleading team, the Lady Lions, will perform at all four Mountain Lion home games this fall and will serve as ambassadors for the organization throughout the season.

The second of two preliminary auditions will be held on Saturday, March 12 at the Sacramento Youth Football Training Center (5845 Dry Creek Road, Rio Linda). Registration is at 11 a.m. and auditions begin at noon. Participants should come in dance attire of briefs or boy shorts and a half top, and dance shoes or non-marking soled athletic shoes. They are required to attend all phases of the audition. Saturday's audition will be closed to the public.

Pre-registration is recommended and encouraged and there is an audition fee of $25. Visit www.ufl-football.com/sacramento-mountain-lions/cheerleaders for sign-up information.

Potential Lady Lions must be willing to commit to the dance-team schedule, including rehearsals, personal training, special-event appearances and games. They must also have a reliable means of transportation.

"We had a great first season. I would love for every woman who came out to games and events last year and thought to themselves, 'I'd be a great addition to that team,' to come out to auditions," said Mountain Lions Cheer and Dance Team Director Lindsay Shoemaker, about what she is looking for. "The ideal Lady Lion should have spirit, charisma, love to interact with fans and know how to work with a team of talented women."

The final auditions, where the squad of 32 will be selected, will be held on Friday, April 1 in an event that is open to the public. More details on this event to follow.

"I was impressed with the turnout last year, being the inaugural season of the Lady Lions," Shoemaker said. "I'm excited and looking forward to what this year will bring. I know there is so much talent out there and I'm looking forward to the season."

The UFL season will begin in August. The game schedule has not been finalized yet.

Ticket information will be available soon at www.sacmountainlions.com. Fans can also visit www.buyUFL.com for merchandise.
