Madison Mallards News Release
Madison, Wis. - The Madison Mallards have discovered a nesting mother mallard in the Great Dane Duck Blind with at least four eggs in the nest. The Mallards, who have appropriately named the mother Millie, after their female mascot, eagerly anticipate the arrival of the newest members of the Mallard family.
"The Mallards always pride ourselves on being able to provide fun, family entertainment for all our fans," said Mallards President Vern Stenman. "We are very excited that we are able to also provide a stable home for this young family of Mallards."
The nest was found Friday morning by Mallards Director of Operations Matt Lowrey while doing a walk-through of the ballpark. It is ironic that the ducks chose to nest in the Great Dane Duck Blind, as duck blinds are typically a dangerous place for ducks. However, it appears these Mallards think the closer they are to danger, the further they are from harm. The Mallards ask that the public respect the privacy of the Mallard family as they welcome the ducklings. The Mallards have called in their mascot, Maynard G. Mallard, to help protect the little ducklings.
The Mallards host their season opener on Tuesday, May 27th at 7:05 pm when they take on the Kalamazoo Growlers. Mallards single game tickets go on-sale on April 26th at 9:00 am. Tickets will be available by visiting MallardsBaseball.com or calling the Mallards ticket office at 608-246-4277.
