Green Bay Blizzard News Release
After a high-scoring and fast paced first half, the Green Bay Blizzard lost it's bout with the Tulsa Talons 66-54. Tulsa took their opening drive down the field and scored on a two yard run by FB Jamar Ransom (1 run for 2 yards and 1 TD). WR Nate Forse (9 receptions for 114 yards and 1 TD) scored the first points for the Blizzard by catching a 13 yard pass from QB Gino Guidugli (26 of 35 for 308 yards, 5 TD, 1 INT). WR Robert Garth (13 receptions for 119 yards and 4 TD) was hot early, accounting for three straight Blizzard touchdowns going into the second quarter.
Even the offensive linemen were involved in the Blizzard scoring, as OL Leroy Auguste (1 reception for 35 yards and 1 TD) caught a throw-back pass from wide receiver Forse to give Green Bay a seven point lead. Tulsa's WR Jeff Hughley (10 receptions for 129 yards, 4 TDs) was the most consistant scoring threat for the Talons after scoring a touchdown every quarter.
After a Hughley touchdown at the end of the third quarter the Talons took the lead, a lead that they never relinquished for the rest of the game. Blizzard kicker Bob Forstrom added two late field goals to bring the Blizzard within five points with just over five minutes left on the clock but a 17 yard touchdown reception by Talons WR Zach Edwards (5 receptions for 69 yards, 2 TDs) put the game out of reach giving Tulsa the win.
All Blizzard fans received a free scoop of custard from Culver's after the team scored 45 points and later received free hot dogs from Anduzzi's Bar and Grill after scoring over 50 points. The Blizzard hit the road next week to face the Milwaukee Iron and return home July 17th to play the Iron at home for the first time this season at the Resch Center. The next home game will also be another "Buck Night" and a fan appreciation night so fans will receive free t-shirts sponsored by Menominee Casino.
