Rio Grande Valley Dorados News Release

HIDALGO, TX: December 20, 2004 – The Rio Grande Valley Dorados of arenafootball2 are thrilled to announce they have been assigned Moses Lewis by the af2 for the 2005 season. "Moses is an athletic receiver that has size and speed and should be an immediate aid to our receiving core," said Dorados Head Coach Kevin Guy. "Position wise (if to play offense or serve as a two-way), we will make that determination once training camp begins and we fill out the remainder of our roster."

Lewis is turning pro with the Dorados after going undrafted in the 2004 NFL Draft. It was a surprise to some, as he went through several NFL combines and was ranked by Rob Rang of WestCoastDraft.Com and ESPN Insider supported SportsTALK.COM as a top "Diamond in the Rough." He was also described by NFLDraftScout.com as one of the best-kept secrets in college football.

The 6'3" 195-pound Yakima, Washington native received the recognition after a stellar college career at Central Washington University (Ellensburg, WA). Lewis initially enrolled at the University of Washington and was a member of the Huskies track team. He transferred to Central Washington in 1999 and was redshirted. The 25 year-old was limited to one game due to an injury in 2000, but rebounded back and had solid seasons 2001 - 2003. Lewis combined to play 33 games with CWU and he registered 123 receptions for 2,182 yards and 21 touchdowns. The two-time All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Second Team member ranks fifth in program history with 2,182 career receiving yards and second in touchdown catches (2). His 123 receptions ranks sixth in school history and fifth in GNAC history. Lewis was a track star through high school at AC Davis High School in Yakima, where he also lettered in basketball, and did not play football until his senior season.

Lewis is the seventh addition to the Dorados 2005 roster gives the squad their sixth player, joining Brian Baker (QB), John Bradley (OL/DL), Josh Kellett (QB), Joseph Lemberg (OS), David Morrill (FB/LB) and Josh Tubbs (OL/DL). Media members seeking an interview with Lewis or Coach Guy are encouraged to contact Chris Due with the Dorados at 956-227-4940. Coach Guy is currently in Alabama and will make his way down to the Rio Grande Valley after the holiday season.

The Dorados kick-off their 2005 campaign April 9th at the Dodge Arena, as they host the Louisville Fire.
