Moran, Sox, Win Again

July 15, 2007 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Reno Silver Sox News Release

The Silver Sox have played five games in St. George this year, and not only have they won them all, but they have scored in double digits in each game as well.

Led by starting pitcher Nick Moran who pitched seven innings allowing only one earned run, the Sox picked up their 16th win of the year by a final of 10-2 Saturday night.

Both St. George runs came when a ball got away from Nick Moran and rolled to the backstop allowing two runs to score. Manager Les Lancaster came out to argue the play, saying the ball hit the batter and should be ruled dead. The umpires held that it was a wild pitch, and Lancaster was ejected from the game.

With the score 7-2 Reno in the eight inning, LF Kane Simmons hit his seventh home run of the year, which ties him for the league lead. Simmons is averaging one home run every other game since joining the Silver Sox.

1B Ryan Brown reached base all five times he came up, with three singles and two walks.

Game three of this series will be Sunday night at 5 pm Pacific Time. Catch all the action on ESPN Radio 630 or streaming live at silversoxbaseball.com.

The Sox return home to face the Outlaws on Tuesday.
