Manitoba Moose News Release
The Manitoba Moose entered Tuesday night's game looking for revenge after falling 4-3 at the H-E-B Center versus Texas last Wednesday (Jan. 18). Tonight's contest was off to a competitive start with both teams playing physically and gathering their fair share of offensive chances. Manitoba's hot penalty kill went to work once again in the first period, snuffing an early Texas powerplay. Later in the period the Moose took to the powerplay and scored the game's first goal as Dan DeSalvo swatted home his 11th goal of the season after a net-front scramble at 15:23. Kyle Connor and former Texas Star, Scott Glennie, had the assists. After scoring one with the man advantage in the first, the Moose added to their lead scoring another powerplay goal. For the second time in the game, DeSalvo was right on the doorstep firing home his team leading 12th goal. Jack Roslovic and Glennie drew the assists. Manitoba's powerplay has been steady lately, scoring at least a powerplay goal in six straight games. Manitoba killed off three minor penalties in the middle frame, keeping the high scoring Stars at bay. The third and final frame was quiet as Manitoba looked to hold onto their lead. But, the Stars would not be held off the board as Travis Morin scored his 14th of the season after a nifty little passing play to put Texas within one of Manitoba. Morin's goal was his third of the season against the Moose. From there it was all Manitoba as they kept Texas in check, going on to claim a 2-1 victory. Moose netminder Eric Comrie made 27 saves in his fourth straight start. The win earned Manitoba a split of the season series with the Texas Stars.
