Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced today they will stage Moose Anthem Idol. This is the opportunity to find Manitoba's next great anthem singer on Thursday, September 11th at the MTS Centre.

The winner of Moose Anthem Idol will be awarded the grand prize of singing "The Star Spangled Banner" and "O Canada" in front of a packed house prior to the National Hockey League exhibition game between the Calgary Flames and Phoenix Coyotes at the MTS Centre on September 24th. The successful performer will also receive the chance to sing the American and Canadian national anthems at various Manitoba Moose games throughout the 2008-09 season.

On September 11th, each competitor will be asked to perform both anthems from the centre of the arena bowl at the MTS Centre through a wireless microphone. The top 10 singers, as determined by a panel of qualified judges, will subsequently be asked back for a second performance a week prior to the NHL exhibition contest. A winner will then be named at this time. Other finalists will be asked to perform the American and Canadian national anthems at various Moose regular season games in 2008-09.

All interested candidates should call the Manitoba Moose offices at 987-PUCK to register. Candidates aged six and up are eligible. Spacing is limited, so please don't hesitate to call.

While this is your chance to become part of this year's Manitoba Moose team, it is also the opportunity to make your dream of performing in front of thousands come true and possibly launch the next great local musical career.
