Mankato MoonDogs News Release

MANKATO, Minn. - The Mankato MoonDogs were shutout by the Duluth Huskies, 7-0, at ISG Field, Sunday night.

The MoonDogs head into the all-star break grasping a 24-22 overall record and 5-7 second-half record. The Huskies, now 23-22, are 4-8 in the second-half standings following the win.

The Huskies rode a five-run fifth inning to victory on Sunday night. Peyton Powell (Saint Mary's College) drove in the first and eventual game-winning run when he singled to center to make it a 1-0 ballgame in favor of Duluth. After the Huskies' rally concluded, making it 5-0 in the fifth with five hits, Powell singled again in the sixth to tack on another run. After six innings at ISG Field, the Huskies led the MoonDogs 6-0.

Duluth sealed the deal with one more run in the top half of the ninth, which was again unanswered by the home team. The Huskies defeated the MoonDogs Sunday night at ISG Field.

John Lundgren (North Alabama), now 2-2 on the season, came down with the loss in Sunday's contest for Mankato. After pitching four shutout innings as the starting arm for Mankato, he finished with four and two-thirds of an inning pitched on the day and was pulled in the fifth after surrendering five runs. He walked a pair of batters and struck out four others along the way.

Monday marks the start of a three-day all-star break in the Northwoods League. Sean Ross (Indiana State), Boston Merila (Minnesota) and Tyson Neighbors (Kansas State) will represent the MoonDogs at Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids for the NWL All-Star Game, Tuesday. Ross will also compete in the NWL Home Run Challenge on Monday night.
