Montreal wins a heart stopper over Shawinigan

Shawinigan, Quebec - The Montreal Juniors triumphed over over the Shawinigan Cataractes4-3 Friday night at the Bionest Centre in Shawinigan.

Shawinigan jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Benjamin Casavant at the 10 :23 mark of the first period on the power play and then they followed that up with another goal at 12 :52 by Yannick Lemieux. Philippe Fontaine brought the Juniors to within one with his seventh goal of the season with 1 :31 left to go in the first period.

The second goal saw both teams go and goals. Montreal evened the score with a beautiful gal by Dylan Anderson at the 6 :47 mark of the second period. Montreal moved out to a 3-2 lead on Philippe Lefebvre ‘s 12th goal of the campaign at the 13 :53 point of the second. But Shawinigan would battle back and score the equalizer at 18 :59 on a goal by Yannick Veilleux. The second period was also marked by a big tilt between Alex Micallef and former Junior Dillon Donnelly.

The third period saw the Juniors once again snatch victory away from another victim, when Charles Landry ripped a cannonnating blast from the point at 16 :30 to seal the victory for the visitors.

Jean-François Berube picked up the win for Montreal after turning aside 27 of 30 shots. His counterpart Gabriel Girard faced 36 shots from the Junior and saved 32 of those shots.
