Montreal Juniors Hockey Club Teams Up With Minor Hockey Associations

Montreal, May 26th, 2010 - The Montreal Juniors Hockey Club released today, at Place Desaulniers on Taschereau Boulevard in Longueuil, the 2010 edition of the "Community Day" program, in collaboration with minor hockey associations in the greater Montreal area.

The Montreal Juniors is involved in the community at large because it realizes the importance of community involvement and cooperation. The key elements that solidify the mission of the Montreal Juniors is defined by its business activities and its encouragement of community days. The Club has worked in collaboration with minor hockey associations in order to launch today the new Community Day program. The program will contain the following elements: all pre-season games will take place in different cities such as Varennes, Greenfield Park and La Plaine, the Montreal Juniors' coaching staff will offer a coach's clinic for all minor hockey coaches, the Montreal Juniors will hold practices in the local rinks of the communities involved in the program and finally a big celebration will take place at a Montreal Juniors home game.

On hand for the event was Mr. Gilles Courteau, the League's Commissioner, who reiterated the QMJHL's social commitment.

The Montreal Juniors and minor hockey associations are now collaborating together to promote the Community Day program which promotes hockey in the greater Montreal region. The first step in launching the program will thus be made with the support of minor hockey associations. Mr. Martin Routhier, president, the administrative team and the head coach of the Montreal Juniors Hockey Club were also present.

"We are extremely proud to be a part of this new program. Each community will have the chance to host a practice by the Montreal Juniors and share the ice with the Club's players, a gesture that encourages our young players", says Brian Chute, President of Greenfield Park's minor hockey association. "I'm proud to see to see all these people involved in the success of our youth and to fuel their passion" added Martin Routhier, president of the Montreal Juniors Hockey Club.
