
Monterrey to Face Cruz Azul July 3 at BBVA Compass Stadium

Houston - Popular Mexican soccer teams Monterrey and Cruz Azul will face off on Sunday, July 3 at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, BBVA Compass Stadium officially announced today.
The match will be a semifinal under the MoneyGram SocioMX Cup, with kickoff scheduled at 6:00 p.m. CST.
"SocioMX resonates with millions of Latinos in the US by bringing elite soccer events for families and friends across the nation," said Javier Villalobos, Sports Marketing Monterrey's President/ Founder.
Monterrey, commonly known as Rayados, are currently ranked first in Liga MX. In 2011, 2012, and 2013, the team won consecutive CONCACAF Champions League tournaments. They last played at BBVA Compass Stadium in November 2015, with a 2-0 win over Aguila del Salvador.
Cruz Azul, also of Liga MX, are currently ranked 10th. La Maquina have won the CONCACAF Champions League a record six times, and their eight Liga MX titles are fourth-most in Mexican history. Cruz Azul is led on the field by longtime Mexican National Team captain Gerardo Torrado along with fellow El Tricolór stars Jesus Corona and Francisco "Maza" Rodriguez.
Monterrey and Cruz Azul faced each other at BBVA Compass Stadium in October 2013, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw.
Public on-sale is scheduled to start on Wednesday, May 4 at 10:00 am CST. Tickets start at $33 and are available online at BBVACompassStadium.com or at the BBVA Compass Stadium Box Office.
