Monterrey Game Postponed Due to Special Summit

(St. Louis, Jan. 7, 2004) The MISL has announced that the Steamers Jan. 11 game at Monterrey has been postponed due to the Jan. 12-13 Special Summit of the Americas. The Summit will be held at Parque Fundidora â adjacent to the Monterrey Arena. The arena itself will serve as the "media center" for the summit. President George Bush will be among numerous heads of state attending the two-day summit, which provides an opportunity for the democratically elected leaders of the hemisphere to discuss shared interests in strengthening democracy and promoting prosperity and development throughout the hemisphere.
The MISL is coordinating a makeup date for the Jan. 11 game. The MISL and the participating teams will release the specific makeup date as soon as it becomes available.
The Steamers next game is Jan. 9 against the defending MISL champion Baltimore Blast. The game kicks off at 7:35 p.m. (EST) at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore. The Blast currently lead the MISL Eastern Division with a record of 11-5, one game ahead of Philadelphia. St. Louis is 5-10 overall after registering back-to-back victories last week.
The Steamers next home game is Jan. 17, also against the Baltimore Blast. Kickoff is 7:05 p.m. at The Family Arena. The Jan. 17 has been designated First Responders Night: all EMT, police, fire, and sheriff workers who present an ID badge at the Family Arena box office are eligible for a "buy-one, get-one-free" ticket offer. The game also includes a Scout Night promotion: area scouts can purchase tickets for just $5 in the Family Arena upper bowl and $10 in the lower bowl.
