Head-to-Head: El Paso Locomotive FC has the head-to-head advantage over Monterey Bay F.C. with a win in the previous match played between the sides, though this will be the first meeting between the club's at Cardinale Stadium in Seaside. The previous match between the sides resulted in a 6-0 defeat for the Union at Southwest University Park in El Paso, Texas.
Connections: Locomotive FC forward Christiano François has several connections to the Union. In 2021, François was teammates with Monterey Bay F.C. forward Chris Cortez at Miami FC when Cortez joined the club ahead of its run in the USL Championship Playoffs last season. The season before in 2020, François played at Reno 1868 with Monterey Bay midfielder Sam Gleadle. Lastly, François and Union defender and captain Hugh Roberts spent the 2018 season as teammates at Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.
Notes: In what will be the second-ever meeting between the Union and El Paso, the Crisp and Kelp will bring its current four game shutout streak into a head-on collision with Locomotive FC's current three game scoring drought. Monterey Bay F.C. is 3-4-2 so far this season at home, while El Paso is 4-5-4 this season on the road.
