Monterey Bay FC News Release
SEASIDE, California - Monterey Bay F.C. (3-4-5, 14 points) hosts Loudoun United FC (3-8-1, 10 points) at 7 p.m. PT on Saturday in the Club's second match of the week at Cardinale Stadium in Week 13 of the 2023 USL Championship regular season, presented by Monterey Peninsula Smiles. Saturday's match will be broadcast locally via KION on FOX 35 (46.2 over the air, 35 Dish, 47 DirecTV and 3/702 HD Xfinity), with live streaming available on ESPN+.
The Crisp and Kelp and Loudoun United FC last met in the middle of the 2022 campaign on July 30. After an entire match of scoreless play, Monterey Bay earned a corner in the dying moments of the match that led to a game-winning goal by Seku Conneh in the 90+3 minute to give the Union the full three points on the road at Segra Field. With that result in Virginia being the only match between the sides to date, Monterey Bay F.C. owns the all-time record 1-0-0 with the second match set to take place in Seaside.
Monterey Bay enters the match on an unfortunate six-game winless streak in all competitions, with three draws and two losses in league play. Having just played to a scoreless draw at home against FC Tulsa on Wednesday night, the Crisp and Kelp will look to earn their first USL Championship win since April 22 in Indy, and first at Cardinale Stadium since April 8. Monterey Bay F.C. will also look to the weekend to end a scoring drought of sorts as the Union opened the season with 15 goals in its first seven matches, but have only managed to score three goals in their last five contests. Meanwhile, Eastern Conference side Loudoun United FC makes the trip to Seaside on the heels of a six-game slide of their own as the visiting club's last win came on April 23 over Oakland Roots SC in Virginia.
