Cleveland Monsters News Release
Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters have continued to show their commitment to their hometown by adding the city's name into their logo. The team unveiled their new 2012-13 jerseys - featuring the updated "Cleveland" logo - at an event at the City of Cleveland's Halloran Park on the city's west side on Tuesday afternoon. Also during the festivities, the Monsters and the City of Cleveland announced a new, unique partnership centered on Halloran Park's youth hockey program.
The Monsters logo, which has been with the team since the original launch in 2007, will now include "Cleveland" written into it below the "Monsters" wordmark. Moving forward, this logo will be seen on all uniforms, including home, road and alternate. The home white jerseys have also been revised for the 2012-13 season, which begins Friday, October 12th at Quicken Loans Arena. The new jersey was on display at Tuesday's event, and aside from the new logo, also now features white shoulders and sleeves, in the more traditional home uniform look.
"The City of Cleveland and our community of fans and supporters here have given so much to the Lake Erie Monsters and are such a part of who we are as an organization, that we thought it made perfect sense to reflect that more in our identity," said Mike Ostrowski, Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of the Monsters. "While we of course represent and appreciate all of Northeast Ohio and the Lake Erie region, we are proud to be in the heart of downtown Cleveland and strive to work and play with the same passion and grit that Clevelanders have come to be known for."
On Tuesday the Monsters also reaffirmed their strong commitment to the Cleveland community by announcing their new partnership with the City's Halloran Park recreation program, specifically their youth hockey group. Throughout the 2012-13 season, the Monsters will work hand-in-hand with the Halloran Huskies to help make them a team that local kids want to be a part of and can benefit from. As a sign of things to come with the partnership, the Monsters hosted free street hockey games on Halloran's outdoor skating rink following Tuesday's press conference.
"We welcome the Lake Erie Monsters to Halloran Ice Skating Rink as they bring additional resources and expertise to enhance the recreational experience of the youth who come to skate and play hockey at Halloran," said Mayor Frank G. Jackson. "The partnership with the Monsters will help raise awareness of the many activities Cleveland has to offer at no cost to children and their families."
The relationship with Halloran Park is one of many focal points of the newly-created Monsters Community Fund, a branch of the Cleveland Foundation. The Fund will allow the Monsters organization to support Northeast Ohio programs that positively impact the areas of education, youth hockey, health & wellness and basic needs.
Single game tickets - as well as full and partial season, group and birthday bash packages - for the 2012-13 season are on sale now. All tickets can be purchased by visiting LakeErieMonsters.com, calling (216) 420-0000, visiting The Q Box Office or any Northern Ohio Discount Drug Mart.
The Lake Erie Monsters are part of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena organization and also owned by a group led by Cavaliers Majority Owner and Quicken Loans Founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert. The group also owns and operates the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League playing at Quicken Loans Arena and the Canton Charge of the NBA Development League playing in nearby Canton, Ohio at the Canton Civic Center.
