Monsters Sign Forward Miles Koules to One-Year AHL Contract, Ink Forward Dan DeSalvo to One-Year, Two-Way AHL/ECHL Deal

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Monsters, AHL affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, announced Thursday that the team has signed forward Miles Koules to a one-year AHL contract and additionally signed forward Dan DeSalvo to a one-year, two-way AHL/ECHL deal for the 2018-19 season.

A 6'0", 192 lb., right-handed native of Los Angeles, CA, Koules, 24, posted 13-14-27 with ten penalty minutes and a -17 rating in 68 AHL appearances for the Monsters in 2017-18, his second season in the AHL, after splitting time in the 2016-17 season between the Monsters and Ontario Reign. In parts of two ECHL seasons spanning the 2015-16 and 2016-17 campaigns, Koules appeared in 95 games for the Quad City Mallards, Wichita Thunder, Atlanta Gladiators and Tulsa Oilers, logging 11-35-46 with 24 penalty minutes and a -7 rating.

Prior to his professional career, Koules contributed 71-79-150 with 99 penalty minutes and a +4 rating in 208 WHL appearances for the Medicine Hat Tigers and Portland Winterhawks spanning three seasons from 2012-15 and supplied 9-13-22 with 50 penalty minutes and a -24 rating in 54 USHL appearances for USA Hockey's National Team Development Program spanning portions of the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. Koules also helped Team USA claim the Silver Medal at the 2011 IIHF U17 World Hockey Championships.

A 5'8", 174 lb., right-handed native of Rolling Meadows, IL, DeSalvo, 26, supplied 5-11-16 with 28 penalty minutes and a -9 rating in 44 appearances for the Hartford Wolfpack in 2017-18. Before joining the Wolfpack, DeSalvo spent two seasons with the Manitoba Moose from 2015-17, posting 23-31-54 with 34 penalty minutes and a -15 rating in 83 games. In 77 ECHL games with the Tulsa Oilers, spanning three seasons from 2015-18, DeSalvo tallied 26-46-72 with 38 penalty minutes and a +18 rating.

Prior to his professional career, DeSalvo contributed 29-73-102 with 117 penalty minutes and a -1 rating in 153 NCAA appearances for Bowling Green State University spanning four seasons from 2011-15. In 58 USHL appearances for the Des Moines Buccaneers during the 2010-11 season, DeSalvo tallied 14-28-42 with 66 penalty minutes and a +5 rating.
