
Monsters Announce 2016-17 Radio/TV Broadcast

CLEVELAND - The AHL's defending Calder Cup Champions, the Cleveland Monsters, proudly powered by Constellation, announced Friday the team's 2016-17 radio and television broadcast schedule for the Monsters' 10th Anniversary campaign in Cleveland. This year, all 76 regular-season Monsters games will air live on 99X (99.1 FM WMMS-HD2), Cleveland's New Rock Alternative, for the first time in team history, while 11 games will be simulcast on television on Fox Sports Ohio, SportsTime Ohio and CLE 43 WUAB.
"We are thrilled to partner with our friends at iHeartMedia and 99X to bring every Monsters game to fans in the same location for the first time in Monsters history as the team mounts its Calder Cup defense," said Monsters Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Franchise Operations Mike Ostrowski on Friday. "Our new flagship radio station, combined with terrific coverage from our television partners at Fox Sports Ohio, SportsTime Ohio and WUAB, will provide Monsters fans in Northeast Ohio and around the country with unparalleled access to the team in our 10th Anniversary season."
The Monsters' 2016-17 TV schedule is highlighted by five statewide Fox Sports Ohio telecasts, including Cleveland's alternate gold jersey unveiling on December 28th's "Cavs Night" vs. the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Monsters' "Indians Night" vs. the Chicago Wolves on January 28th featuring specialty Cleveland Indians-themed uniforms, and the Monsters' St. Patrick's Day showdown vs. the Texas Stars on March 17th. Cleveland's television schedule also features three SportsTime Ohio broadcasts and three broadcasts on Cleveland's own CLE 43 WUAB.

In 2016-17, fans can catch every second of every Monsters game live by listening to 99X on 99.1 FM, the station's website www.99xcleveland.iheart.com, as well as iHeartRadio.com and the iHeartRadio mobile app, available on over 90 unique device platforms. In addition, all Monsters games will be available for live audio and video streaming via the AHL's pay-per-view streaming service, AHL Live, which also features highlights, video on demand, archived games, and more.
Returning for his second season as the radio and television play-by-play voice of the Monsters is veteran hockey broadcaster Tony Brown, while Cleveland Hockey Legend and Monsters Director of Hockey Affairs/Team Services Jock Callander will again provide color commentary on all 2016-17 TV broadcasts with longtime Northeast Ohio sports broadcaster Kenny Roda serving as rink-side reporter.

The Monsters drop the puck on their 10th Anniversary Season and begin their defense of the Calder Cup with a "Championship Celebration Weekend" when they take on the Rockford IceHogs in back-to-back games on Friday, October 14th at 7:00 pm and Saturday, October 15th at 5:00 pm at Quicken Loans Arena. The historic weekend celebration will begin at Friday's opening night game when fans in attendance will experience the raising of the Monsters' Calder Cup Championship banner. On Saturday, the first 10,000 fans will receive a magnetic Calder Cup 2016-17 Monsters regular-season schedule. There will also be an outdoor Fan Fest on Gateway Plaza prior to each game (starting at 5:00 pm on Friday and 3:00 pm on Saturday) with the opportunity for fans to take a photo with the Calder Cup. Full coverage of the Monsters' "Championship Celebration Weekend," live from The Q, begins at 7:00 pm on Friday, October 14th on 99X.
