March 18, 2005 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
Sacramento Monarchs News Release

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., MARCH 18, 2005 - Sacramento Monarchs guard Kara Lawson will, for a second season, provide color analysis for ESPN during the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship.

Lawson is no stranger to the broadcasting world after working in the same capacity for ESPN last season and providing commentary for regular season women's college games this year. She was also a new addition to the Sacramento Kings broadcasting team for the 2004-05 NBA season joining Kings broadcaster and Monarchs play-by-play announcer, Jim Kozimor, as an analyst for the Kings House Party warm-up show, as well as the Kings half-time and wrap-up shows.

This year Lawson's television schedule will include the First and Second Rounds of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament that are held in Fresno, California. All games will air on ESPN2 beginning Saturday, March 19, at 11:00 a.m. PST. Lawson will announce all four games of the First Round and will also broadcast both games of the Second Round, beginning on Monday, March 21, at 6:00 p.m. PST.

The Tempe Regional will be Lawson's final March Madness appearance. She will act as color analyst for all three games. On Saturday, March 26, the first game will air on ESPN at 6:00 p.m. PST and the final game of the evening will air on ESPN2 at 8:00 p.m. PST. On Monday, March 28, Lawson will broadcast the final Tempe Regional game at 6:00 p.m. PST on ESPN.

"Kara has the unique ability to show respect for the viewer's understanding of the game," said Jim Kozimor. "Her basketball insight shows her knowledge from a player's perspective, while educating the audience in a simple fashion. Kara is fun to work with and that comes off on our show. She makes you feel like you are getting into the mind of the player with the insight she provides."

Lawson has one last ESPN engagement at the end of March. However, instead of college women's basketball she will be covering the high school McDonald's Girls All-American Game in South Bend, Indiana, airing on Thursday, March 31, at 2:30 p.m. PST on ESPN2.

The Sacramento Monarchs first regular season home game will be on Saturday, June 4, at ARCO Arena when the Monarchs host the Los Angeles Sparks at 1:00 p.m. in a game to be nationally televised on ABC.

Fans are asked to call (916) 419-WNBA for information about season ticket plans. For more information, please visit the Monarchs website at www.SacramentoMonarchs.com.
