Monarchs Clinch Sixth Consecutive Postseason Berth

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Sept. 9, 2008 - The Sacramento Monarchs tonight extended the longest current postseason streak in the Western Conference to six seasons by clinching a berth in the 2008 WNBA Playoffs. The team has advanced to the postseason in nine out of the last 10 WNBA seasons.

Tickets for the Monarchs first round home playoff game (Game 1A) are on sale now. The official date, time and opponent of Game 1A will be announced as soon as it is available, closer to the end of the regular season.

"The WNBA Playoffs at ARCO Arena have thrilled basketball fans for five consecutive seasons in Sacramento," said Danette Leighton, vice president of Monarchs business operations. "Our proud postseason history has included two trips to the WNBA Finals, a WNBA Championship in 2005 and back-to-back Western Conference titles. We are looking forward to another exciting playoff run in 2008."

Beginning Wednesday, September 10, at 10 a.m., fans may purchase tickets by calling Ticketmaster Charge-By-Phone at (916) 649-TIXS, (530) 528-TIXS or (209) 551-TIXS. Tickets will also be available at the ARCO Arena Box Office and Sacramento area Ticketmaster outlet locations.
