Monarchs Acquire Indiana Fever's 2008 Third Round Draft Pick In Exchange For Jessica Dickson

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., April 13, 2007- The Sacramento Monarchs today announced the organization acquired the Indiana Fever's 2008 third round draft pick in exchange Forward Jessica Dickson.

Sacramento originally selected Dickson with the 21st overall pick in the second round of the 2007 WNBA Draft, held April 4, in Cleveland.

"The 2008 WNBA Draft is supposed to be the best and deepest draft in WNBA history," said Monarchs General Manager John Whisenant. "We already had a lot of depth at Dickson's position and felt that this was a winning situation for all involved."

The Monarchs will play two games in the preseason, the first being on Friday, May 11, versus the Seattle Storm, at 7:00 p.m. PDT, at KeyArena. The team will then host the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, May 13, at 6:00 p.m. PDT, at ARCO Arena.

The 2006 WNBA Western Conference Champion Sacramento Monarchs will host the Los Angeles Sparks in their Home Opener on Saturday, June 2, at 7 p.m., at ARCO Arena, in a rematch of the 2006 WNBA Western Conference Finals to be locally televised on News10. Sacramento begins the season with their first four games on the road, including the WNBA season opener, in a nationally televised game (ABC), against the 2006 WNBA Champion Detroit Shock on Saturday, May 19, at 12:30 p.m. PDT.
