Monarchs Acquire Forward Crystal Kelly Via Waivers

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., May 18, 2008 - The Sacramento Monarchs today announced that the organization has acquired forward Crystal Kelly via waivers and waived forward Izabela Piekarska. Kelly was originally selected by the Houston Comets in the Third Round - 31st overall - of the 2008 WNBA Draft. The Comets waived her on May 15.

A four-year letter winner at Western Kentucky, Kelly earned State Farm Coaches', Associated Press and cbssportsline.com All-America honors as a senior. She was also named Sun Belt Conference Player-of-the-Year this past season after averaging 22.6 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in her final year with the program. Additionally, Kelly also led the nation with a school-record .644 field-goal percentage. She finished her career at WKU as the all-time leader in points (2,803), rebounds (1,258) and field goal percentage (.617).
