Visalia Rawhide News Release

VISALIA – Ben Fritz broke out of his slum by winning a game for the first time this season. The former Fresno State Bulldog and Visalia Oak started Modesto on the way to a 7-4 win in Visalia.

Former Oaks relief pitchers Jeff Coleman and Ryan Cullen completed the victory following Fritz's five innings on the hill. Fritz allowed three runs on eight hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

Coleman pitched two scoreless innings before he gave up a run on a Tony Miller single that cut the A's lead to 7-4 in the eighth inning. Ryan Cullen came on to face the next batter, pinch hitter Justin Lincoln. Lincoln grounded the first pitch he saw to shortstop J. T. Stotts for to start an inning-ending double play.

Stotts was also with the Oaks last season and singled twice to drive in a pair of runs.

Visalia's offense pounded out 12 hits, but stranded twelve runners on base. The Oaks loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh inning but Coleman forced a double play and struck out Jeff Winchester to end the inning.

Dan Phillips drove in a run on a single in the first and Bryan Peck drove in a run on a double in the third.

Another former Oak, RHP Jeff Bruksch (4-2, 3.58 ERA) will be on the hill for Modesto in Sunday's series finale. RHP Mike Esposito (1-2, 4.50 ERA) is slated to pitch for Visalia. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. The Radisson Pre Game Show will begin at 1:22 p.m. on AM 1270 KJUG.
