Missouri's Mike Clemente Named Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week

GLENDALE, AZ (January 8, 2013) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Missouri Mavericks goaltender Mike Clemente has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the period ending January 6, 2013.

The rookie goaltender won all three of his starts this past week allowing just three goals on 107 shots (.972 save percentage). The Great Falls, Virginia native started his week with his first pro shutout on New Year's Eve in a 1-0 victory over the Tulsa Oilers (35 saves). He then had a 49-save effort in a 4-2 win over Wichita on Friday (the 49 saves are tied for the most in a single game this season - Denver's Kieran Millan). His final win came on Saturday in a 20-save, 2-1 shootout win over Denver.
Clemente leads the league with 15 wins on the season and already was named the 50/50 Central/CHL Rookie of the Month for October. Overall, the 22-year-old is 15-4-3 with a 3.01 goals against average and a .901 save percentage. The first-year goalie has been a workhorse for the Mavs playing in 17 games since December 1 which helps with his league leading saves total of 612.
