Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. - Tab Lardner provided a goal and an assist as the Missouri Mavericks scored three times in the first period on the way to a 3-2 win over the host Quad City Mallards Thursday night.
After the Mallards jumped in front 1-0 just 46 seconds into the game on Obi Aduba's power play tip-in, the Mavericks would respond with three straight goals. Both the tying and go ahead goals came with Missouri on the power play. Walker Wintoneak redirected the equalizer home at 12:34 of the first period and Tab Lardner pounced on a loose puck to put the Mavericks up 2-1 at 18:27. With just 2.3 seconds left in the period Ryan Jardine deflected Dominic D'Amour's shot past Mallard goaltender David Brown to stretch the lead to 3-1.
The Mallards cut the gap to 3-2 when Mike McLean buried a rebound with 1:35 left in the second period. However, Quad City was unable to produce a tying goal in the third period.
The Mallards return to action Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Arizona Sundgos at the i wireless Center. Saturday evening also brings the Mallards' Teddy Bear Toss presented by B100 and CBS 4.
