Joe Tolles had one point to lead Mississippi Surge to a 2-1 victory over the Fayetteville FireAntz. By firing 30 shots on goal, Mississippi Surge exceeded the 24.5 shots it averages per game this year.
Mississippi Surge additionally got points from Kyle Kudroch, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi Surge were Justin MacDonald, Kyle Fletcher, and Dion Campbell, who contributed one apiece.
Fayetteville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The FireAntz average 26.6 shots on goal per game, but only sent 20 pucks on net against Mississippi Surge.
Fayetteville was led by Matt Ridley, who scored the team's only goal. Ridley scored on the power play 14:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The FireAntz had taken the advantage when Mississippi Surge's Jarkko Leppanen got sent off for holding. Corey Toy picked up the assist.
Dan Clarke rejected 19 shots on goal for Mississippi Surge. Mississippi Surge incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Dustin Carlson made 28 saves for Fayetteville on 30 shots. The FireAntz incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
