Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors are pleased to announce that the organization will be hosting the Majors second annual team banquet on the evening of Friday, May 8. The reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. while the dinner and player awards will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $50 plus applicable taxes.

This prestigious event is held annually to celebrate and commemorate the successes of the past season. Majors staff, billets, sponsors, and of course players will be on hand to celebrate the event. The banquet will take place in the Algonquin Ballroom at Stage West Hotel and Theatre Restaurant located at 5400 Dixie Road.

Awards to be presented during the night will include:

Molson Cup Three Stars Award

Mississauga News Fans Choice Award

Pepsi Scholastic Player of the Year Award

Mayor McCallion Community Service Award

Tucker's Marketplace Most Sportsmanlike Player Award

Tim Hortons Defenceman of the Year Award

Pizza Pizza Rookie of the Year Award

Laurie Williamson Pontiack-Buick-GMC MVP Award.

Fans will have the opportunity to make their voices heard in the voting for the 2008-09 Mississauga News Fans Choice Award. Over the past week, Majors season ticket holders have had the opportunity to send in their nominees for the award and the four players who received the most votes are Mike Pelech, Cameron Gaunce, JP Anderson and Jared Gomes. The Majors have created a poll on the website home page that is open to the general public. The player with the most votes will be presented with the 2008-09 Mississauga News Fans Choice Award at the banquet. Vote now! The poll closes this Friday, April 24 at noon.

Ticket orders for the banquet must be received no later than May 1, 2009. Please specify whether or not you will require a vegetarian meal when ordering. Payment can be made by cash, debit or credit card. To order, please contact Ben Hodge by email at bhodge@majors.ca. Space is limited.
