Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - The Bullfrogs drop the first game of the two game series against the Battle Creek Bombers 6-2. The story of the game was missed opportunities offensively for the Bullfrogs as they had runners in scoring position seven of the nine innings but only plated two runs.
The Bombers got off to a strong start against Bullfrogs starter Chad Mabini (Western Carolina) as they scored four runs in the bottom of the second. They got RBI singles from Dean Miller (Riverside City College) and Jacob Blunt (Clarke University) to score the first two runs of the ballgame. Then Eric Gilgenbach (Notre Dame) got two of his three RBI's on a single to right field.
The Bullfrogs scored their first run of the ballgame off a RBI double by Zach Biermann (Polk State) that scored Marcus Shoemaker (Lenoir Rhyne). Shoemaker led off that inning with a single, his second hit of the game.
The bullpen was strong as they held the Bombers to only one run in the final four innings of play. Peter Castillo (Palm Beach State) and Matt Ellenbest (Morehead State) both pitched scoreless frames.
Laren Eustace finished the game with three hits. Matt Hoeg (Iowa Western CC), Brian Lees (Southeast Missouri State), and Parker Coss (UC-Irivine) recorded a hit in tonight's ballgame.
Chad Mabini fell to 0-2 on the season while his counter part, Tommy Parsons (Adrian College), moved to 3-1 on the year.
Stuart Springer (St. Edwards) will get the start for the Bullfrogs tomorrow. First pitch is 7:05 ET (6:05 CT).
