
Miscues Contribute to Continued Frustration for Sharks

Morehead City, North Carolina-Hunter Shepherd hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Morehead City Marlins a 7-6 lead over the Wilmington Sharks. The Sharks were held scoreless the rest of the game in an 8-6 loss Monday night at Big Rock Stadium. The loss was the sixth straight for the Sharks as they fell to 1-11 in the season series with the Marlins and to 6-8 in the second half of play.
The Sharks jumped on top early when Clemente Inclan hit a three-run home run in the first inning to give the Sharks a 3-0 lead. The Marlins answered back with a run in each of the first two innings, both aided by Sharks errors to cut it to 3-2.
Shepherd led off the bottom of the third with a double. With one out Jake Reimold doubled him home to tie the game at three. With two outs, Colby Johnson singled home Reimold to put the Marlins on top 4-3.
With one out in the top of the sixth, Inclan drew a walk and advance to second on a single by Cam Jenson. Aaron McKeithan singled home Inclan to tie the game at four. CJ Conrad followed with a single to score Jenson, giving the Sharks the lead back. Tilo Skole drew a walk to load the bases. Jonah Beamon came up and hit a sacrifice fly, scoring McKeithan to make it 6-4 Sharks.
The Marlins began a rally in the bottom of the inning when Dusty Baker hit a one-out single. He then stole second after being caught in a rundown. Blaze Glenn then reached on a pop fly that fell right in front of Skole at shortstop, setting up Shepherd's homer.
The Sharks will be back in action Tuesday night against the Wilson Tobs at Fleming Stadium. Colin Kennedy (0-2, 10.00) will start on the mound for the Sharks. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05PM.
Come and join us for Christmas in July at the Shark Tank Wednesday night as the Sharks take on the Holly Springs Salamanders. Mike Picollo (0-3, 9.16) will start on the mound for the Sharks. Gates will open at 6:00PM for a 7:05PM first pitch.
