Miracles Win Fourth Straight Game against the Rainmen

(Moncton, NB) The Moncton Miracles, presented by Rogers, defeated the Halifax Rainmen a final score of 99-84. The Miracles now sit with a 19-20 record.

Rainmen's Antoine Tisby would put the first two points on the board in the Miracles final home game. The ball would quickly get swung to the other end of the floor for Miracles Sylvania Watkins to respond with a huge dunk. Miracles Darrell Wonge hit a far out 3 early on the break the tied game up, 11-8.

Halifax would call a time-out with 6:43 left to play in the first quarter to try and put an end to Moncton's 10-0 run that gave them an 18-8 advantage. Halifax would get their fifth foul of the quarter with 2:30 remaining sending Miracles Darrell Wonge to the line. Wonge would go 1 for 2 to secure them with a 9-point lead, 28-19. The first quarter would end with Miracles Herman Favors driving to the net, making the basket and the foul shot for the 3-point play, 31-26.

Moncton would start the second quarter playing tough defense causing a shot clock violation. Isaac Butts would then score in the paint to put the first 2 points of the quarter up, 33-26. With 6:51 left to play in the first half the score had not moved and was still stagnant at 33-26.

Halifax would continue to push to shorten the lead and with Malcolm White going 2 for 2 from the line it would be a 4-point ball game with 5 minutes left to play, 36-32. It was a low scoring second quarter with Moncton scoring 16 and Halifax scoring 12 to end the first half with the Miracles leading 47-37,

Moncton would come out with the hot hand and score 3 consecutive 3-point shots putting them up, 56-39. Miracles Darrell Wonge would hit 4 for 4 from behind the arc helping his team to lead by as many as 20 points. Halifax would continue to answer back as best as they could and the third quarter would end with Moncton continuing to lead, 77-63.

The Rainmen would try their best to come back on the Miracles but were unable to make any sort of dent in the lead. Moncton would lead by as many as 21-points in the fourth quarter and showed once again just how hungry they are for that last playoff spot. This win marks a fourth straight for the team.

Devin Sweetney led the way for the Miracles with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Isaac Butts had a huge game with his first ever triple-double with 23 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 blocks.

Cedric Moodie was the force for the Rainmen with 18 points. Akeem Wright was next with 13 points and Tyrone Levett with 12 points.
