Miracles Struggle in the Fourth Quarter against the Lightning

(Moncton, NB) The Moncton Miracles struggled to keep it close in the fourth quarter against the London Lightning with a final score of 114-91 in front of 1,477 fans.

The Miracles were hungry at the start of the game and had an early 10-3 lead over the two-time NBL Canada Champions the London Lightning. The central team would soon catch their legs to tie the game, and take the lead. The London Lightning would end the first quarter with a 38-31 lead over the hometown Miracles. Daquan Brooks had his best quarter of the season dropping 14 points.

Moncton would continue to try and close the gap that London had created. Trayvon Lathan would sink a long 2 with 5:10 on the clock to make it a 51-43 ball game. Marvin Phillips was handed a technical foul with less than 3 minutes remaining in the second quarter. London would end the half up 10, 60-50.

The hometown squad would come within 10 late in the third, 76-66 but that would be the closest it would be. London would lead by as many as 18 and finish with a 90-77 advantage. 4 minutes into the fourth quarter the Lightning had pulled ahead by 20 and showed no sign of slowing down, 103-83. The Lightning outscored the Miracles 34-16. Moncton suffered from 21 turnovers to London's 8 and 16 steals.

Trayvon Lathan led the way for the Miracles with a double double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Daquan Brooks added in with 18 and Shawn Vanzant with 16.

Marvin Phillips was the force for the Lightning with 22 points. Brent Jennings and Sefton Barrett both added in with 19 each.

The Miracles head to Ontario tomorrow to take on the Brampton A's Thursday, February 26th and the Mississauga Power on Friday, February 27th. St. Louis Bar & Grill will be hosting a viewing party for the Brampton A's game beginning at 8pm. Come watch the game on the big screen and enjoy half price appetizers with other Miracles fans.
