October 15, 2015 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Moncton Miracles News Release
The Moncton Miracles are pleased to announce the addition Shane Burrell and Troy Taylor to their roster.
Shane Burrell, a 6-foot-8, 265-pound power forward-center, has spent the last three years playing professional basketball all over the globe. In 2012-13 he played in both Beijing, China, and Mozambique, Africa. In Beijing he averaged 18 points per game and 9 rebounds per game, while in Mozambique he averaged 25 points and 11 rebounds. The following year, Burrell played in Libya where he averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds per game. Most recently in Spain, he averaged 19 points per game and 11 rebounds.
Burrell, a Los Angeles, California native, promises this will be a special year for the city of Moncton. "It's a blessing to be playing for the Moncton Miracles this year. I can't wait to get to work with Coach Langis and my teammates."
"Shane is an experienced big body that we lacked last season at the power forward and center position," said Coach Serge Langis. "At his size he can take away space in a hurry which is always a good thing on the defensive side of the ball. Offensively, Shane possesses tremendous hands which allows him to pass and shoot the ball better than many people would think. I'm very happy to have Shane join us this season and look forward to seeing him impose himself to our adversaries."
Troy Taylor is a 6-foot point guard from Anderson, Indiana. Taylor played basketball at the University of Evansville from 2009-2013. While there he averaged 5 points per game, 3.2 assists per game and 4.6 rebounds per game. Taylor also had a .631% free throw average over his four years at Evansville. Last season, Taylor played for the Lake Michigan Admirals in the Premier Basketball League where he took his team to the playoffs losing to the Rochester Razorsharks in the ï¬Ânals.
Coach Langis says that Taylor is a pass first point guard that prides himself on running a team and defending his position. "At 6-feet, 190-pounds, Troy has the body to grind out an NBL Canada season and allows me to see another dynamic that may be the difference in getting us better offensive looks."
"I am happy and blessed to be joining the Miracles," said Taylor. "I can do a little bit of everything on the court. I'm ready to give everything that I have. Every player or coach I have spoken to about Moncton had great things to say. They've all added that Coach Langis is a very hard-working, loyal coach. After speaking with Coach I can tell he's a great person to learn from."
You can see both Burrell and Taylor when they suit up for the Miracles this upcoming season which is set to tip off in late December.
