Miracles Derail Storm

Moncton Miracles News Release


(Moncton, NB) The Moncton Miracles defeat the Windsor Express with a final score of 93-88.

The Windsor Express got off to a quick 0-4 start but Darrell Wonge was not letting that last long. Wonge scored the next 5 points to get his Miracles back in the game. The first quarter went basket for basket and was tied up 3 times early on.

Windsor got into foul trouble early on sending Moncton to the foul line to give them an advantage. The first quarter ended with the Miracles starting to edge ahead and finishing it up 22-18 over the Express.

It was tied again 3 minutes into the second quarter before Isaac Butts came in for the Miracles and lit a fire for Moncton to get them ahead 9 points within the next minute. Moncton continued to plug away and built a lead and with 4 minutes left to play in the half had a solid 41-30 lead. At the end of the first half the Miracles were leading 47-38.

Taliek Brown took over the game pace early on in the third quarter showing how dangerous the Miracles will be once they are back to a full roster. The Miracles were up by as much as 20 points in the second half until late in the fourth quarter when the Express put on a push.

Express' Mike Helms hit a 3 with a minute left to play to bring it to a 6 point spread, 89-83. Darrell Wonge went 4 for 4 from the line to seal the deal and defeat the Express with a final score of 93-88.

Devin Sweetney led the way for the Miracles with 22 points and 20 rebounds. Darrell Wonge followed with 15 points while Isaac Butts put up 11 points and pulled down 14 rebounds.

Darren Duncan was the top scorer for the Express with 29 points, 9 assist and 7 rebounds. Mike Helms and Greg Surmacz were right behind him with 14 points each.

Miracles Taliek Brown was given an unsportsmanlike foul.

The Miracles play their next game on the road against the Summerside Storm on Sunday, December 2nd. Tip-off is 2pm at the Credit Union Place. The next home game will be Sunday, December 9th against the Windsor Express.
