
Miracle to Remain in Lee County

FORT MYERS, FL (March 27, 2008) - Family, fun, affordable entertainment will continue to be a summertime fixture at Hammond Stadium. The Fort Myers Miracle Professional Baseball Club is pleased to announce a new five-year lease agreement with Lee County.
The Miracle has been a fixture on the Southwest Florida sports scene since 1992 and next week they open their 17th season at Hammond Stadium.
"We value our wonderful relationship that we have with Lee County and thank everyone that helped put this agreement together. We look forward to the continued growth of Miracle Baseball in Southwest Florida," said Miracle President Linda McNabb.
The Miracle have drawn over 1.6 million fans to the Lee County Sports Complex.
"I can't tell you of another place where you can get the affordable entertainment like the Miracle," said long-time supporter Fred Zebley.
Baseball fans in Southwest Florida have become accustomed to the wild and crazy "Fun is Good" motto at Hammond Stadium. They have also seen the future stars of tomorrow begin their careers in Fort Myers. The projected Minnesota Twins opening day roster will feature 12 Miracle Alumni.
"They (Miracle) have become a fixture of our community and we are pleased that the new agreement means many more nights of summer fun," said County Commissioner Ray Judah.
The current agreement approved Tuesday includes a five-year extension option in 2012 when the agreement expires.
The Miracle begins their 17th season in Southwest Florida on Thursday, April 3 against the Reds at 7:05 p.m. The Florida State League Opener will mark the first "Thursty Thursday" of the season.
