Miracle To Face Dunedin In Playoffs

FORT MYERS, FL (August 23, 2008) - The Fort Myers Miracle will see a familiar foe in the upcoming Florida State League Playoffs. Last night, Dunedin clinched the second half West Division title and will host the Miracle in Game One of the best-of-three series beginning Tuesday, September 2 in Dunedin.

The Miracle (73-53 overall) will host Game Two on Wednesday, September 3 at 7:05 p.m. If necessary, the Miracle will also host Game Three on Thursday, September 4 at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at www.miraclebaseball.com or by contacting a Miracle representative at (239) 768-4210.

The Miracle, winners of the first half, will be making their second appearance in three years, and first since 2006. Dunedin (78-51 overall) knocked off the Miracle in three games in 2006, before falling in the FSL Championship Series to St. Lucie. This will be the fourth straight time that Dunedin has been the Miracle's foe in the playoffs (2008, 2006, 2003, 2000). Neither club has won a Florida State League Championship.

MIRACLE ALUMNI TO GET EXTRA WORK THIS FALL

The Minnesota Twins announced today that six players will be headed to the Arizona Fall League, an annual showcase for the game's top prospects. Pitchers Jeff Manship, Rob Delaney, Tim Lahey and Anthony Slama, infielder Steve Tolleson and outfielder Dustin Martin. Triple-A Rochester manager Stan Cliburn will be their manager on the Phoenix Desert Dogs. Slama is a current member of the Miracle, while Delaney Manship and Lahey pitched in Fort Myers earlier this season and are currently with Double-A New Britain. Tolleson and Martin wore Miracle uniforms in 2007.

FINAL HOMESTAND SCHEDULE NOTE

The Miracle begins their final homestand of the season on Tuesday, August 26 at Hammond Stadium against the Lakeland Flying Tigers. Due to heavy rains and wet field conditions causing a postponement in Lakeland last night, the two teams will play a doubleheader on Wednesday, August 27 beginning at 5:05 p.m.
