PORT ST. LUCIE -- Tyler Robertson recorded his eighth win in Wednesday's opener of a doubleheader, and an 8-4 victory sent Fort Myers to titles in both halves of the Florida State League season.
The Miracle scored all eight in the fifth inning, initially trailing 3-0 to St. Lucie. Ben Revere had a run-scoring single, Estarlin de Los Santos brought in another with a sacrifice fly, and then the bases were loaded up for Mark Dolenc. The outfielder doubled inside the third base line to clear the bases, making it 5-3. That was followed with a Joe Benson single to bring in Dolenc, and a Deibinson Romero home run to plate two more. It was Romero's fifth homer of the season.
Robertson (8-8) gave up three earned on six hits in his five innings. He walked four and struck out five. All three runs against him scored on homers, with a Josh Satin solo shot in his first FSL at-bat and a Brahiam Maldonado two-run blast in the second inning.
Angel Calero (3-11) took the loss. With the victory, Fort Myers became the only team in the Florida State League this season to win both halves in its respective division.
In game two, a Chris Parmelee double gave the Miracle a 1-0 advantage heading into the bottom of the seventh, but the Mets quickly retaliated. Eric Campbell doubled and Stefan Welch brought him in on a ground ball that handcuffed Mark Dolenc in left field for an error. Tony Maccani's fielder's choice would bring in Welch from third for the winning run, 2-1.
The two teams complete the series on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
