Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

After being swept in a four-game series to begin the 2010 season against the Bradenton Marauders, the Miracle jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back winning 6-3. The Miracle won their second game in a row and third in four games at home in front of 1,721 fans. It was the first win witnessed by dogs at Hammond Stadium this season - that's right, dogs - as the Miracle kicked off their first "Dog Daze" game in tonight's action. There will be three more games this season where fans will be allowed to bring their pooch into the ballpark.

In the first inning, the Miracle jumped all over Bradenton starter Aaron Pribanic picking up three consecutive hits to start the night. Drew Thompson led the game off with an opposite-field single to left-field with Chris Herrmann following with an RBI-double that was ripped down the third base line to score Thompson. Evan Bigley then pulled a double of his own down the right-field line, scoring Herrmann from second. Bigley and Herrmann both finished with two hits on the night. It was Bigley's first mulit-hit effort of the season, and it extended his hitting streak to seven games.

Fort Myers would add single runs in the second and third innings before adding two insurance runs the seventh to pull off their biggest margin of defeat of the season. After scoring three or less runs through the team's first ten games, the Miracle have scored six runs twice and four runs once in their last three.

Pribanic (0-1) lasted only four innings allowing four earned runs on six hits to earn his first loss of the year.

Matt Williams (1-0) pitched three and a third innings in relief of Miracle starter Brad Tippett to pick up his first win of the season. The two Australian right-handers combined to allow two runs on six hits while striking out seven. Tippett went four innings in his second start of the season.

The Miracle (5-8) will head to Bradenton (9-4) tomorrow night to wrap up a quick home-and-away series with the Marauders. Miracle RHP Bruce Pugh (0-2, 9.80 ERA) will get the nod for his third start of the season against Bradenton's Nathan Adcock (1-1, 2.70).

Fort Myers returns home Saturday night to host the Palm Beach Cardinals in a three-game set. First pitch Saturday night is set for 6:05 PM, with a post-game concert featuring New Method at "Faith Night at the Ballpark."
