BRADENTON, Fla. - The Miracle overcame a 4-0 first inning deficit to defeat the Bradenton Marauders, 8-4, on Friday night at LECOM Park.
Bradenton's first four batters picked up hits off Miracle starter Blayne Enlow, the big blow coming on a three-run home run by Mason Martin.
The Miracle, though, came back with four runs of their own in the third inning. Michael Helman, who picked up three hits and a walk in the game, put Fort Myers on the board with an RBI double. Gabriel Maciel delivered an RBI single and Trevor Larnach tied the game with a two-out, two-run home run. The long ball was Larnach's sixth of the season and first home run in over a month. He went 2-for-4 with a walk and three RBI.
Ryan Costello put the Miracle up for good with a solo homer to right in the fourth, his seventh of the season. Fort Myers added three runs in the seventh inning on RBI singles by Maciel and Larnach, and an RBI ground out by Jose Miranda.
Melvi Acosta took over for Enlow in the fourth inning and threw two shutout frames in relief. He allowed one hit, struck out three, and threw 20 of his 25 pitches for strikes.
Jordan Balazovic (5-2) earned the win with four scoreless innings to end the game. He retired 12 of the 13 hitters he faced and struck out six.
Bradenton starter Brad Case (2-2) suffered the loss. The right-hander allowed five runs on seven hits in six innings. The Miracle out-hit Bradenton, 12-7.
Game two of the three-game series is on Saturday night at LECOM Park. Left-hander Lachlan Wells will start for the Miracle. First pitch is 6:30 p.m. ET.
