Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, FL (May 19, 2005) â Fort Myers Miracle manager Riccardo Ingram wasn't with his team on Thursday night, attending his daughters graduation. It was a good thing because his team didn't show up either losing 11-0 at Hammond Stadium to the Jupiter Hammerheads.
The Miracle managed just five hits, all singles and never had a runner reach third base. The Miracle had just one inning where two men reached base, the fifth when Ben Pattee and Ron Perodin singled. Perodin finished the night 2-3.
The Hammerheads jumped on Miracle starter Adam Harben for five runs (three earned) in four innings. The Hammerheads got on the board in the second inning on an RBI double by Tony Arnerich. He later scored on a passed ball.
Harben gave up another run in the third and was charged with two in the fifth before being removed after facing just two batters.
The relievers didn't fair any better. Josh Gray gave up two runs in two innings and Peter Tautor allowed four runs in 1.1 innings. The only reliever who escaped the Hammerheads wrath was Tim Henkenjohann who pitched 1.2 scoreless innings.
Hammerheads starter James Russ was spectacular in seven innings of work allowing just four hits while striking out four.
The same two teams meet Friday night at Hammond Stadium. The Miracle send RHP Nick Blackburn (4-1, 2.45) to the mound against Hammerhead LHP Paul Mildren (3-0, 1.60).
