KISSIMMEE, FLA.: Three first inning tallies and a dynamic outing from LHP Lachlan Wells guided the Fort Myers Miracle to a 5-0 win versus the Florida Fire Frogs and a series victory on Saturday evening at Osceola County Stadium.
The Miracle didn't let LHP Hayden Deal settle in, slamming four straight hits to open the ballgame. Ryan Jeffers doubled in Gabriel Maciel and Royce Lewis for the first two runs. Jose Miranda's base hit plated Jeffers for a 3-0 Fort Myers edge after a frame.
Lewis followed up his three-hit performance from yesterday with two knocks and a walk on Saturday. Miranda reached base twice.
David Banuelos scored two more runs with a two-out two-bagger in the third to bump the lead to 5-0.
Deal (3-9) surrendered five runs, seven hits, and three walks across three innings.
Wells (1-1) faced 19 batters over six frames, firing first-pitch strikes to 17 and keeping Florida off-kilter all night. He allowed a hit and a walk with five punch outs to earn his first win of the season.
RHP Calvin Faucher and LHP Zach Neff each yielded a base hit but nothing further out of the Miracle bullpen.
RHP Matt Hartman logged some important and effective innings for the Fire Frogs. He fanned two and gave up one hit while turning in five shutout innings. He retired the last ten Miracle hitters that he faced.
RHP Daysbel Hernandez flung a scoreless stanza in the ninth.
NEXT UP: RHP Nolan Kingham (4-7, 5.01) hopes to get Florida back in the win column on Sunday afternoon opposite RHP Bailey Ober (2-0, 0.95). First pitch is scheduled for noon.
